The context of the Covid pandemic in 2020 has led us to make changes in our lives. For this reason, the most important companies in Silicon Valley -the US West Coast- are hiring even more Latin American talent for IT development job positions. Most of them are Fintech, Software and Startups companies which are trying to figure out how to be more sustainable and productive to be considered successful IT companies.

So why are they finding a business opportunity to expand their talent search, looking to hire in Latin America?

They are on the hunt for IT profiles in countries such as Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Colombia as they can provide:

Argentina, Costa Rica, Cuba, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile are considered to be the countries with the best level of English in the region as a result of having improved the language in schools and institutes in the last ten years. As Argentina and Colombia are the countries with the most engineers and technical profiles trained at universities and specialized institutes, many IT companies have invested more than US$5 million in Latin American talent.

The most sought-after profiles to cover technology-related job positions are Tech Leads, Functional Analysts, QA Analysts and Cryptocurrency developers.

As we can see in many Linkedin IT profiles, Web Design is another career in this post-COVID context that has increased the number of specialists in Latin America. We have to take into account that many companies needed to migrate their business to web commerce, making their payments online and working from home. In addition, people from this region have excellent soft skills, for example, an agile mindset, flexibility to change, resilience and adaptability to different contexts that translate into remarkable strengths.

According to a market study, Argentina contributes 30% of the total talent hired in Latin America, Colombia (27%), Uruguay (24%), Chile (11%), Mexico (4%) and Peru (2%). Moreover, the Fintech industry has grown by 112% between 2018 and 2021 in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In conclusion, the United States has seen in Latin America a competitive advantage to improve its business, focusing on opening more offices in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, being a potential opportunity for these countries to increase their investments and technology market, in addition to the possibility of creating quality jobs that match their skilled workforce.
